The Snowden Chronicles

The Snowden chronicles recently revealed that mankind has developed the capability to globally monitor connectivity and store without bandwidth constraint the constituent text, voice, video, and GPS coordinates of virtually every transaction; the archived data to be processed by algorithms yet to be imagined. Such is the propensity of mankind for Omniscience, albeit a synthetic Omniscience.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil" (Genesis 3:4-5).
However, Omniscience is more than just knowing, 'Scientia Potentia Est' i.e., “knowledge is power”, the ultimate power that comes from knowing the thoughts and intents of the heart of every cyber-connected soul on earth, a power that even the serpent never had until now!

Chaff in the Wind

The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday "Russell Moore of the Southern Baptist Convention says it is time for evangelicals to tone down the rhetoric and pull back from the political fray and culture wars" i.e., compromise with culture. Is this consistent with Scripture?

John said unto Herod the tetrarch, the political leader of his day "It is not lawful for thee to have her." Herod had taken his brother wife. John the Baptist's confrontation of the ruler of "Galilee of the Jews" a client state of Rome had a cost. Herod "laid hold on john, bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife."
But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod. Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask. And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger. And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her. And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison. And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother (Matthew 14:6-11).
Has Moore forgotten that the believer is "... the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." (Matthew 5:13)? Yes, it will cost something, being a light on a hill always will.

So disquieting to see the Southern Baptist Convention go gently into the night "like the chaff which the wind driveth away."

The Enemy Within

Today, House Republicans experienced what in a military context would be called "friendly fire" i.e., being fired on unintentional by your own while attacking a common enemy.

However, the incoming fire wasn't unintentional, but deliberate, malicious, and premeditated! Senator Ted Cruz describes the conflagration:

“We saw the House of Representatives stand up to defy Washington conventional wisdom and stand with the American people against the ADA,... That was remarkable, it was an incredible victory. Where this went off track is when it came to the Senate, and Senate Republicans didn’t stand united alongside House Republicans.... Senate Republicans instead divided in half and began going on television, going on radio, going everywhere, blasting House Republicans saying, we cannot win, this will fail, there’s no way to win,... And when you’ve got half the Senate Republican caucus firing their cannons at the House Republicans it sabotages their effort.”

Today, House Republicans experienced what in a military context would be called "treason" i.e., a bifurcation of Senate Republicans, with the unconscionable adherence to the enemies of truth, justice, and our sacred honor, giving them aid and comfort.
And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment (Isa 59:14-15).

America is Over

It is only a matter of time until we will have to concede that "America is Over" and to the Father, "Thy will be done."

And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth (Luke 11:2).

Lord, Lord

"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity" (Mathew 7:22-23).

If Thou Wilt Go With Me

Reminiscent of a time when Deborah, a prophetess, judged Israel, the captain of whose host fearfully begged: If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go:
And she sent and called Barak... and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men...? And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.... And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.... And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak.... Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host... and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left. Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite.... And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle. And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him. Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man doth come and enquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No. Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died. And, behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, Come, and I will shew thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the nail was in his temples (Judges 4:6-22).
In a day when Republicans are fearfully begging: "If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go." May Ann Coulter's “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3 -- Especially a Republican” be the "tent peg."

This Can't Go On Forever

"... hundreds of thousands of federal employees are out of work [scream the ObamaCare complicit media]"

As a Silicon Valley engineer, can only remember taking one sick day ever, and rarely having time to take vacation, much of which was lost due to vacation caps, such was commitment.

Yet, the wife of an acquaintance with a government job described how her husband's passion at work was consumed in planning vacations, weekend outings, and other non-work related trivia.

This can't go on forever, and in the Antediluvian world, it didn't:

"For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark" (Mat 24:38).

A Post-Modern Inquisition

“... It was very evident to everyone in the room that Cruz doesn’t have a strategy... and could never answer a question about what the [government shutdown] end-game was...."

Of course, he couldn't answer. The end-game is obviously constrained by the unmitigated treachery of fellow Republican after Republican who repeatedly maligned him during this afternoon's post-modern "inquisition":
False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not. They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul. But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom. I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother. But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not: With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth. Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions. I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people. Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause. For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land. Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it. This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me. Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord. Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me. Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up. Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me. Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant (Psalm 35:11-27).
