The Faith of Our (Deist) Fathers

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." (The unanimous Declaration, adopted by the Continental Congress, July 4, 1776). This sentence summarizes the essence of the document commonly referred to as the "Declaration of Independence." 

Appealing to the "Creator," "Divine Providence," and "the laws of nature and of nature's God," to affirm "self-evident" truths, our Deist Fathers attempt to confirm "truths" not  found in Scripture!
